Q: What is Concierge Medicine?

Concierge medicine is an alternative to the traditional healthcare system in which the patient pays an annual fee or retainer in exchange for a more personalized medical relationship. Concierge physicians commit to fewer patients in order to ensure accessibility, and more attentive care.

Q: Do I still need insurance?

Yes. Concierge medicine is not a substitute for insurance. Insurance is necessary to cover costs related to blood work, imaging, specialist appointments, and hospitalizations. However, you may choose a high-deductible insurance plan with a health savings account.

Q: What is the cost?

$2500/yr, $2000/spouse. Payment can be made annually or semi-annually.

Q: Will my insurance reimburse me for the retainer fee?

No. The retainer fee may not be submitted to your insurance provider or Medicare for payment or reimbursement.

Q: How do I pay the retainer fee?

The fee may be paid annually, semi-annually by check or credit card.

Q: Will Dallas Comprehensive Medical Care still be a part of my in-network insurance plan after the transition to the concierge model?

No. Dallas Care has opted out of commercial insurance plans, as well as Medicare.  Dr. Gutierrez is an out-of-network provider and claims will be submitted to commercial insurance plans on your behalf.  You will receive reimbursement according to your out-of-network insurance benefits. Reimbursements will be mailed directly to you.

Q: What if I have Medicare?

Patients with Medicare may join the practice and receive all of the same services provided to non-Medicare patients. However, Dr. Gutierrez has opted-out of Medicare. This means Medicare cannot be billed for any services. Medicare payment for medications, blood work, imaging tests, or specialty referrals will continue according to your specific plan, without change.

Q: Is there a discount for spouses?

Yes. There is a 20% discount for spouses.  Discounts are also available for additional family members, based on relationship.

Q: Who will take care of me when my doctor is on vacation?

In the event Dr. Gutierrez is on vacation, she will still be available by phone or email for your urgent needs. You will be notified prior to any absences. In the rare event they are not available by cell phone, a covering physician will be designated for all urgent matters.

Q: If I get sick, will Dallas Care admit me to the hospital?

Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in caring for patients in the hospital. Since hospitalists are on site 24-hours a day, seven days a week, they are able to provide you with around-the-clock care. However, the concierge framework allows Dr. Gutierrez time facilitate coordination of care at THR Presbyterian Dallas.

Q: What do I do if I want to join the program?

Please contact our office, and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have and send you a contract for your review. We are happy to arrange consultations for new patients over the phone or in person, free of charge. Execution of the contract occurs at your first appointment.
